FORTUNE’S MASALACHEF COMPETITION
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Update 16/07/2021: Based on updated Public Health Orders, the following is noted:
– Video Entries are now closed and Round One is complete
– Round Two (Open Pantry) will go ahead with a top 8 from Sydney and a top 8 from Melbourne.
– The date of Round Two and the Grand Final will be set towards the end of July 2021 or Early August 2021 or when there is more clarity surrounding restrictions
– The safety and wellbeing of our contestants is paramount, and we will only make decisions on dates in line with our COVID Safety Plan and government guidelines
Competition
Information on how to enter and prizes for part of the terms of entry.
Entry into the Masala Chef Competition (the Competition) is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions. To the extent of any inconsistency between these Terms and Conditions and any other reference to the Competition, these terms and conditions shall prevail.
Who can enter?
Entry is open to residents of Australia over the age of 18 who are amateur chefs.
You are not eligible to enter if you are a professional chef,or have ever worked as a cook or chef in a kitchen or if your main source of earned income comes from preparing or cooking fresh food in a professional environment (including restaurants, catering and canteens).
You are not eligible to enter if you are an employee of the Promoter or its related corporations or agencies, or a member of an employee’s immediate family.
Competition Period
Entry into the Competition will be open from 00.01am on 10/6/21 to 11.59 pm on 06/07/2021 (Entry Period).
Round 1 of the Competition will be held on 17/07/21 (Sydney) and 18/07/2021 (Melbourne).
Round 2 of the Competition will be held on 31/7/21 (Sydney) and 1/08/2021 (Melbourne)
Finals of the Competition will be held on 7 August 2021 (Sydney)
Update 07/07/2021: Due to COVID 19 lockdowns in Sydney, the following changes have been made:
Entry date extended from 11.59 pm on 06/07/2021 to 11.59 pm on 13/07/2021
Top 8 contestants will be invited to the next round.
Semi finals : 24th July 2021 (Sydney) and 1st August 2021 (Melbourne)
Grand Final : 7th August 2021 (Sydney)
Dates are subject to change.

How to enter?
To enter the Competition and be eligible to win, you must, during the Entry Period, submit photos of your signature dish and upto a two minute video of you talking about your submission , via WhatsApp to +61 410 578 146. The judges will select the 30 dishes in NSW and VIC (30 from each state), who will proceed through to Round 1 of the Competition in their Participating State (each an Entrant).
Any and all costs associated with submission of the entry will be the sole responsibility of the Entrant.
Competition Rounds
The Competition will be held Victoria and New South Wales only (each a Participating State). Entrants from states other than Participating States may enter the competition, however travel to and from the Competition and accommodation will be the sole responsibility of the Entrant.
Round 1 and 2 of the Competition will be ‘knock-out’ rounds, whereby the Top 6 entrants in Round 1 will proceed to the Round 2 of the Competition. The top 2 of Entrants from Round 2 of the Competition in each Participating State (4 all together) will be invited to a final cook off (the Final Round) at which the judges will determine the overall winner.
Update 07/07/21: From the initial submission of entries, Top 8 entrants will be invited for the semi-finals. The top 2 of Entrants from the semi finals in each Participating State (4 all together) will be invited to a final cook off (the Final Round) at which the judges will determine the overall winner.
The Final Round will be held in [NSW] and travel to and from the Final Round and accommodation for one person will be paid for by the promoter.
The Competition is strictly limited to Indian Cuisine and other Cuisines will be disqualified.
All dishes cooked during the Competition must be made from scratch by the Entrant,and prepared solely by the Entrant.
The Judges’ decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Prizes
The Prizes are as follows:
- Winner of Masala Chef – $5,000
- 2nd Place – $1,000
- A variety of Fortune products and collateral will also be supplied to the Top 30 finalists valued at $550 in total.
The Promoter reserves the right to provide an alternative prize of equal monetary value in the event that a prize or any part of a prize becomes unavailable for any reason beyond the Promoter’s control.
Notification to winner(s)
Winners will be determined by the judges during the Final Round and notified at the end of the Final Round in person.
The name of the winner(s) and the winning dish(es) will also be posted on the Fortune /Indian Link Media Group , print, social and digital media pages.
Accepting the prize
Following the announcement, the winners will be awarded their prize. If the winner does not accept the prize at the time the prize is awarded, the prize will be forfeited. The Promoter reserves the right to award any forfeited prize to another eligible entrant
Your entry
You promise and warrant that all the details submitted with your entry are true and correct, and that you own or have permission to use all content (including recipes) in your videos. You further warrant that you have all of the necessary rights, consents and licences to grant the rights to the Promoter as set out in these Terms and Conditions; your entry is original, solely your own and has not been communicated to the public before; your entry does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party; and the exercise of any rights granted by you to the Promoter is at the complete discretion of the Promoter, including any communication of your entry to the public.
Licence
By submitting your entry, you grant the Promoter/Indian Link Media Group and its licensees and assignees a perpetual, world-wide, royalty free, licence to exercise all rights (including intellectual property and privacy rights) to your entry and any other material provided by you to the Promoter/Indian Link Media Group in relation to the Competition at any time, including reposting or republishing. You consent to your entry being edited or adapted or modified at any time and in any manner by the Promoter/Indian Link Media Group or its agents, licensees and assignees.
You acknowledge and agree that the Promoter / Indian Link Media Group has the right to publish the recipe(s) used in your dish(es) on its social media pages, websites and other publications and you hereby consent to such publishing. You acknowledge that you will not be entitled to any remuneration for such publishing, however you will be acknowledged as the creator of the recipe.
Promoter’s rights
The Promoter/Indian Link Media Group reserves the right to: disallow entries in its absolute discretion; verify the validity of entries and determine the eligibility of entrants (including an entrant’s identity) and to disqualify any entry or refuse to award a prize where dishonest or misleading details have been given by an entrant, or where an entrant has behaved in a fraudulent or dishonest manner, or otherwise than in accordance with these Terms and Conditions or the spirit of the Competition; to terminate this Competition or amend any aspect of this Competition (including the prize) without notice at any time in its sole discretion in the event that this Competition or any aspect of this Competition cannot be reasonably conducted as planned; and enforce any of its rights at any stage and failure to do so does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
COVID 19
The competition will occur with all COVID 19 regulations in place and any contestant not following the rules will be instantly disqualified. The dates and conditions of the competition may change at any time due to COVID 19 restrictions
Exclusion
The Promoter/Indian Link Media Group shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is or may be suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or for personal injury which is or may be suffered or sustained, in connection with participation in the Competition or accepting any prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.
Indemnity
As a condition of participating in the Competition the winner indemnifies the Promoter/Indian Link Media Group, all organisers, sponsors and all other persons and organisations associated in any way with the Competition against all claims, damages, liabilities, costs and expenses (including legal fees on a solicitor and client basis) which the Promoter/Indian Link Media Group may incur arising out of the winner’s participation in the Competition and/or participation in a prize, howsoever caused.
Publicity
You acknowledge and agree that the Competition may be filmed and or photographed which may be viewed broadcast publicly. By entering the Competition or accepting a prize you consent to the use of your name, likeness, image or voice in any media for an unlimited period of time without remuneration for the purposes of the Competition and promoting any products manufactured, supplied or distributed by the Promoter/ Indian Link Media group.
Privacy
The information collected about entrants in the course of the Competition has been requested to enable the Promoter/Indian Link Media Group to conduct the Competition in accordance with these Terms and Conditions (including publicity), and for promotional purposes. All personal information collected will be in accordance with the Goodman Fielder Privacy Policy which can be found here: http://goodmanfielder.com/privacy-policy/.

Promoter and Curator
The promoter is Goodman Fielder Consumer Foods Pty Limited of Level 3, 118 Talavera Road, Macquarie Park NSW 2113. All decisions of the Promoter are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
This competition is curated by Indian Link Media Group of Level 24/44 Market Street, Sydney NSW 2000.
